Trottier was the man in the middle for an ECI Selects team that finished above .500 this year and was competitive with everyone game in and game out.
“Some of my top experiences of AAU were all of the different teams we would play from other states,” Collin said. “You get to see what is out there and it really helps you become a better player when you are playing against an opponent that is either much bigger or much faster than you.
“Other great experiences I had were just getting to know all of my different teammates over the years and getting to play with them.
“Playing with a variety of guys also helped me because I learned how those guys liked to play and that opened up some new areas of my game that really helped me out the last three years.”
Trottier led the Mustangs in scoring as a junior with 12.2 points per game shooting 44 percent from the floor, 76 percent at the foul line, and he made 34 percent of his 49 three-point attempts. Not to mention he also grabbed 4.6 rebounds a game and blocked 1.4 shots a contest.
Where does the Mustang top option need to improve his game? He talked with PHD about that today.
“For me personally I need to keep my skills sharp, but I am really focusing on continuing to become stronger and more agile,” Collin said. “For the team we just really need to stay in the gym and stay in shape. Make sure your getting shots up every day or if you are in football staying in good condition.
“Lifting is also going to be a big thing for our team this fall. I am going to take it upon myself this year to keep my teammates focused and ready for the season both mentally and physically.”
Collin also has to think about college basketball because of a load of schools are showing interest in his ability right now.
“Jamestown offered me a few days after I attended there Elite Camp,” Collin said. “I am hearing a lot from Minot State, Concordia-Moorhead, Lake Region State, Mayville State, and The University Wisconsin-Superior. Other colleges that recently contacted me are Valley City State University and Nebraska Wesleyan University.”
With that interest comes visits and so far Collin has four in mind.
“I have a visit planned for Jamestown in September,” Collin said. “I am also going to visit Mayville State and Concordia-Moorhead sometime this fall. Lastly I am hoping to visit Minot State within the following months.”
