The 6’0 guard is coming off a really good season of AAU hoops. He was a substantial member of Indiana Faith 2017 but has now turned his attention to the football season where he is the starting quarterback. He’s also just picked up his first two offers for football from Sterling and Cincinnati Christian. Chase feels good about his situation for football at the moment.
“I like where I’m at with these colleges,” Andries said of his football status. “I like what relationship I have with Cincinnati Christian and am enjoying getting to know Sterling better. I’m heavily weighing all my options but my interest level is higher in these colleges because of the amount of interest they’ve shown in me.”
With all that said, basketball is still an option for the Beech Grove athlete. Andries is still looking at playing in college and in doing so is keeping all of his options open.
“I would love to if I got the opportunity and the fit was right,” Chase said of his thoughts on playing basketball in college.
This past summer was a successful one for Andries. Where he sits now is with a pair of football offers and a few school showing interest in basketball. IU-South Bend, IPFW, Marian, DePauw, and Wabash have all reached out regarding his possibility in playing hoops a year from now. But, Chase says that they want to get another look at him this winter during the high school season.
All options are on the table for Andries. He could look to play basketball or football in college. He believes that he could start to pick up his basketball game a bit when and if he plays just one sport in college. Some schools have looked at Andries for playing both sports. College like Wabash, DePauw, and Marian have expressed that interest. Chase say that he is up for it if the opportunity presents itself.
“I think I could have done better,” Chase said of his summer. “Overall, well but if I went to the next level for basketball I would consistently train and work on my game like I work on football. I feel like that would make a huge impact if it were my main sport.”
He is still a ways away from making a decision. Chase says that he will wait until after the high school season so he can accumulate all of his options after some schools that have expressed interest are able to see him on the basketball court again.
