Continue ReadingAfter recently receiving his first offer and with another one seemingly in tow, Lowell’s 6-foot-7 center Austin Branagan is officially trending upward.
It was an Indiana NAIA which was first to offer, and several others may be on the verge of offering the good-sized and versatile post.
“This winter will be big for me. And I’ve already had a good amount of schools in contact with me,” said Branagan. “Just recently I received an offer from Goshen College (IN). And Cornerstone has been in contact with me, and we’re setting up a visit there so that they can give me my second offer. Also Alma and Lake Forest are schools that have been in contact with me lately.”
With his recent surge in recruitment, Branagan says he’d like to wait out as long as he can before making a decision, just to see what else may come his way.
“I would like to be able to make a decision by the end of our school season,” he said. “I would just like to see if I can get any more offers on the table, or any new interest as the season goes on.”
A versatile post, who is in the process of making a transition to more a stretch-four, Branagan defined his game to PHMI.
“I think I can run the floor pretty well, and I can get physical down low. I can hit a mid-range jump-shot pretty well, and I can step-out and hit the 3,” said Branagan.
“I’m still working on my outside shot — that can always get better. And then my ball-handling skills need to get better too.”
He’ll be playing football this fall with the Red Arrows, then it’s right into his senior basketball season.
“This year I am having to step-up and be more of a leader for our team, and help out and demonstrate to the younger kids coming up,” said Branagan. “Personally I would like to just continue and improve my game, and lead our team forward.”
