Oldest brother Cory helped CBC to a Final Four in 2010 while middle brother Ryan was a standout at Parkway South. Both went on to play collegiate basketball at Christian Brothers in Memphis., where their father Kevin was a former standout and a member of the school’s Hall of Fame. Young Connor will be playing college basketball in 2018 as well. The 6’0″ guard has received interest from a number of schools, including Truman State, Missouri S&T, Christian Brothers, Millikin and Benedictine.
“I learned a lot from watching my older brothers,” McArthy said. “My older brother could really shoot, so I got my shooting from him. My middle brother is is tough, so a learned a little bit of toughness from him. So, I got a little bit from both of them.”
McArthy has been playing on the Patriots’ varsity since his freshman year. As a junior, he averaged 10.6 points, 3.7 assists and made 45 3-pointers in leading South to a 16-10 record. McArthy has a solid fundamental package with the ability to handle the ball, pass and make 3-pointers. What he also does well is take care of the ball as his assist-to-turnover ratio is well above 2-to-1.
“My strengths are my shooting and my court vision,” McArthy said. “I’m working hard on getting to the basket better and my left hand.”
With the return of McArthy and a host of other experienced players, the Patriots are poised to enjoy a big season in 2017. The Patriots looked like a finely oiled machine in the month of June with their teamwork and shooting as the won nearly every game at team camps.
“Our goal is to win our conference and hopefully win a district championship,” McArthy said.
McArthy spent the summer running with the Gateway Basketball Club 17U team that enjoyed an excellent run through the Adidas Uprising Series Gauntlet circuit. He provided solid backcourt play and perimeter shooting for a very successful Gateway team.
“It has been a fun summer with these guys,” McArthy said. “It’s been fun hanging out with a group of guys that you normally don’t hang around with.”
