Despite his small stature, Sills is able to create points in bunches when he gets it going because he’s crafty, strong and can shoot it off the bounce. He has great feel, and has an array of floaters and pull ups in the middle game that allow him to negate his size and score above them. He spent the summer competing with some of the best guards in the 757 with BWSL WAWG, and feels like the competition has made him a better overall player going into his junior season.
“It was a great experience,” Sills said about his summer with WAWG. “We were a close knit group that liked playing together and we played great competition. I feel like I improved overall as a player, especially defensively because I had to guard on the ball with a lot of quick guards.”
Sills is an explosive scoring guard that will be on the radar in no time.Going into his senior season, the ball will be in Sills hands a lot for Gloucester which plays to his strengths as a scoring guard. His takeover ability will be key for them as they look to continue to rebuild and make some noise in the 4A South this season. With a long and athletic group of role players surrounding him, Sills knows that his job is to be the biggest scoring threat on the floor, even if he’s the smallest in stature.
“My goals this year are to average over 20 points per game and get First or Second Team All Conference honors,” Sills says.
Despite his early success at the high school level, Sills has yet to receive major interest from colleges of any level. While he knows he can play with the best of them, he also knows that he has a lot of work to do to take his game to the next level.
“I’m focused on working on my ball handling, getting it tighter so I can handle pressure. I’m also always working on getting bigger and stronger.”
Whether you’ve heard of him or not, it won’t be long before Sills is on the radar of scouts and coaches in the state with his ability to fill it up efficiently and in bunches.
