Prep Hoops Finale Sunday Stock Risers
Sunday the Prep Hoops Oklahoma 17U and 16U were in action at Putnam City for the Prep Hoops Finale. Several players shined with the championship trophy on the line.
Tyree Malone 2017 Playmaker Express Combo Guard
Malone got the job done on Championship Sunday with big buckets from three-point land. He is an undersized Point Guard that can play off the ball due to his shooting talents. Malone projects to the small college level.
Kyle Keener 2017 Oklahoma Run PWP Post
Keener stands at 6’7 in the paint. He was a monster on the boards and defensively forcing opponents to adjust their shot or blocking their shot. Keener has also improved his jump shot showing his can knock down the mid-range bucket.
Jake Kerr 2017 Game Changers Hoops Wing
Kerr is not the quickest or most athletic player, but he will have the opportunity to play in college because he can shoot the basketball. He is very fundamental in his game and pays attention to the small details.
Jordan West 2018 Arkansas Lions Guard
West had a great tournament getting to the basket when he wanted to. He is an intriguing undersized guard to follow to see his development and growth over the next year. West played a vital role in the Arkansas Lions run to a Finals appearance in the 16U bracket.
Kevis Stewart 2018 Arkansas Lions Post
Stewart is a very intriguing post player standing at 6’8 at the four. He is raw in some spots, but has time over the next two years to work on his game and develop it overall. Stewart has size you simply can’t teach. He is not very bulky, but well built to handle banging inside. Keep an eye over his progression over his junior year of high school. He projects to the small college level.
Marvin Johnson 2017 Playmaker Express Wing
Johnson makes the list for the third straight day. He plays so hard and tough all the time. Johnson is a great athlete with so much upside. He has lots of untapped potential as he is still learning the game. Johnson’s effort is shown on the boards with him being able to out work his opponents on the glass. Johnson had everything going his way on Sunday.
Ryghe Lyons New Orleans Wolves
Lyons is a long athletic 6’8 Forward that can handle the rock well. He had a great game going strong to the basket using the length to his benefit. Lyons also displayed good touch on his jump shots. He was one of the most talented players at the tournament.
Riley Island 2018 OK Respect Point Guard
Island is a Point Guard that can flat out shoot the basketball from pretty much anywhere on the court. He is not afraid to shoot from deep and had frequent success. He had the best shooting performance out of any player at the tournament. Island projects to the small college level.
Omar Boone 2017 K2A Point Guard
Boone matched up against his normal team he plays on Team Griffin. He played with a chip on his shoulder netting nearly 30 points. He is an undersized quick guard that some how finds a way to score in traffic even when the paint is clogged full. Boone is so fast he is able to blow past his defender many times. Boone got going finishing strong at the rim, but got his shot going in the second half from three-point range.
Burke Putnam 2017 Playmaker Express Point Guard
Putnam has a smooth flow to his game. He is the type of player who plays so calm. Putnam is always playing hard on the defensive end giving his opponent trouble. Putnam distributed the ball well for Playmaker Express. Putnam got going scoring by driving to the rim. As the day went on Putnam found his jumper making him even tougher to guard.
Brooks Haddock 2018 Playmaker Express Wing
Haddock has a bright future with his excellent jump shot. He turned it on the first half of the championship game with three after three after three. Once Haddock gets hot from the floor look out. He has the chance to turn into a special prospect over the next two years.
RJ Wakley 2018 Tulsa Hawks Wing
Wakley is a big time clutch player for the Tulsa Hawks. He hit huge shots down the stretch when the Hawks needed it the most. Wakley is not the most athletically gifted player, but paying attention to the small details in the game do the job allows him to get the job done. He is a coach’s son and it shows through with his smart playmaking. Walkey’s best skill that shined this weekend was his three-point shot.
Blake Hensley 2017 Playmaker Express Wing
Hensley is one of my favorite players to watch because of the way he plays. Hensley is tough as nails. Often Hensley can be found on the floor taking a charge or diving for a ball. He is the type of player every coach loves to have. Hensley is one of the best spot up shooters in the Oklahoma 2018 Class. He is not the most athletic player, but did get his first dunk in a game at the Prep Hoops Finale. Hensley has really improved since the first time I watched him two years ago. Hensley will make a small college coach happy over his four-year career at the next level.
Jeffery Oxford 2017 Showtime Wing
Oxford won’t impress you with his speed or athleticism, but will stand out immediately as a two guard that can get the job done with the fundamentals of the game. He is a crafty guard that excels slashing and driving to the basket. Oxford is as strong bull driving to the bucket.
