Jared Bynum | Georgetown Prep ’18
Jared Bynum was a top 25 scorer in the DMV last season, recording over 18 points per contest. The skilled, crafty lead guard, who played up with 17U DC Blue Devils on the UAA circuit this summer, is adept at consistently hitting shots from long range but also has a knack for beating his man off the bounce, finishing in traffic, and racking up points from the charity stripe. Bynum has gotten stronger and more experienced since last year and appears set for an even better junior campaign.
Brandon Edmond | John Paul the Great ’17
One of the most prolific scoring threats in Prince William County and all of Virginia, Brandon Edmond put up 21 points per game last year for the Wolves. A top 15 scorer in the DMV region, Edmond, who ran on the grassroots circuit with Higher Level Premier this summer, should put up similar type numbers during his final high school season.
George Mawanda-Kalema | Episcopal ’17
George Mawanda-Kalema averaged over 18 points per game last year for the defending VISAA D1 State Champion Episcopal Maroon. Kalema, who played on the UAA circuit with DC Premier this summer, will likely be asked to carry an even bigger load offensively given the departure of the team’s other two top scorers from a year ago. A skilled scorer who can get it done from all three levels, Kalema has the firepower to step up and easily average over 20 points per contest during his senior campaign.
Cameron Norman | Good Counsel ’17
In a season where he averaged nearly 18 points per game for Good Counsel, we saw Cameron Norman put on his best performance last year late in the season with a 36 point explosion vs. Bishop McNamara. Norman, who returns as the team’s leading scorer, is a strong candidate to put up nearly 20 points per contest this season.
Michael Speight | Wise ’17
A top-30 scorer in the DMV last season, Mike Speight averaged over 18 points per game for the Pumas. Speight put together a strong summer, finishing among the top scorers at the BSN Summer League. A prolific scoring threat from three point range who has the ability to consistently beat his man off the dribble and finish, Speight will look to replicate and possibly exceed his production as a senior.
