Lamel Robinson 5’10” KC Run GMC (Park Hill South): He was the backcourt linchpin to what was arguably the best 15U team in the country during the grassroots season. Robinson’s speed, quickness and overall skill set makes him a dangerous performer at either guard position. He showed the ability to get in the lane whenever he wanted, plus he could knock down jumpers if defenders backed off.
Yuri Collins 5’10” St. Louis Eagles (St. Mary’s): Collins is a talented floor leader who put the “pass” in pass-first point guard. He’s one of the best passing point guards in the state, regardless of class. He takes great pride in getting the ball to his teammates in scoring positions at all times. As a scorer, he is at his best when he’s able to get to the basket off the dribble. His jumper is still a work in progress. If that improves, watch out.
Kevin Jones 5’10” St. Louis Eagles (Sikeston): He continued his torrid shooting during the month of July, which was one of the biggest revelations of the month. Jones has always excelled as a high-energy performer who attacks the basket on offense and guards relentlessly on defense. His emergence as a confident knock-down shooter from 3-point distance has taken his game to another level.
Derez Tipler 5’9″ SEMO Bulls (East Prairie): An excellent all-around point guard who enjoys the prospect of setting up teammates for opportunities while having the ability to create offense and knock down shots. Tipler has excellent quickness which enabled him to get in the lane on a consistent basis. A pass first point guard with excellent offensive ability is a nice combination to have.
Keyyan Batchman 6’0″ St. Louis Eagles (Chaminade): A strong combo guard with good size and a solidly built body, Batchman is an impressive 3-point shooter with a feathery lefty stroke from deep. He combined his 3-point shooting with his ability to attack the basket off the drive and score through contact.
Desi Williams 5’9″ KC Run GMC (Park Hill South): A small point guard who used his speed and quickness to set the pace and the tempo for an excellent 15U team that won the championship and completed a tremendous grassroots season. Williams takes care of the ball and did an excellent job as a facilitator on a team full of talented players.
James Little 5’11” Gateway (Soldan): One half of a talented twin-brother backcourt with his brother Jesse Little. James is the point guard and floor leader of the duo. He is a pass-first point guard with good quickness and strength. He did a nice job of taking care of the ball throughout the weekend while still playing at a fast tempo.
