It might not necessarily always be the highest rated prospect in the program either although it very well could be.
PrepHoopsIllinois is proud to present the Illinois Irish Program MVP to Washington 2017 point guard Devin Whitelow.
What Whitelow lacks in height be makes up for in heart and basketball IQ. This group of Irish has been successful at every level they played over the last three years despite not having elite D1 talent. That didn’t matter as they took down the big boys time after time. A major reason for that was the play of Whitelow at the point guard position. Offensively he is always in control of the game. He makes sound decisions with the basketball setting up his teammates with crisp passes in the perfect position to make a play. Whitelow pushes the tempo in the transition game with his speed and always having his head up looking to make a play. Capable of hitting an open three or pull up mid-range jumper. Defensively he is a pesky on ball defender that moves well laterally and gets into his man as soon as they cross half court. At the end of the day it is just his leadership and desire to win that makes Whitelow such a special player.
Congratulations to Devin on winning the Illinois Irish Program MVP award!
