Continue ReadingAZ Power North had a very successful showing in the Platinum bracket of the Fab 48. In fact, the team won their pool, with most of the wins being by 20 or more points. They were also able to win their first round game in bracket play. Unfortunately, despite leading for most of the 2nd half, the team dropped a close battle with Earl Watson Elite in OT to end what will probably most of these young men’s club experience. With many of these young men hoping to gain exposure as a means of playing college basketball, it was imperative that they were able to win games. The group was able to do just that.
Honorable Mentions:
Jalen Foster 6’1″ PG/SG 2017 Chaparral – Foster demonstrated good composure and confidence all weekend as his sharp shooting abilities kept the defense honest. His ability to shoot the basketball adds a huge dimension to this team as it makes the help side not as able to recover on other player’s drives.
Jake Hess 6’9″ SF/PF 2017 Horizon – For the past 3 years, Hess has shown to be a versatile player who brings height and shooting to his teams. 6’9″ players who can play the 3 and 4 are at a premium as many teams like to have a pop 4 who can extend the court. Hess contributes a lot to AZ Power North as he gives them length, an ability to drive, and shoot the basketball from deep.
Terriq Tshaka 5’9″ PG 2017 Paradise Valley – Tshaka has improved his strength greatly. He continued to shoot the basketball at an extremely high level but has added a dimension to his game due to the strength. He was able to drive to the hoop with confidence and defend players that were taller. Tshaka should be heading into the next season ready to have a great year and provide with Paradise Valley with a much needed guard presence.
Darion Spotsville SG/SF 2017 Shadow Mountain – Spottsville always seems to find a way to make plays that impact the game. His shot looks more fluid than it has in the past, but make no question about it, what makes him an impact player is his the fact that he provides a presence in multiple ways. He is a good rebounder who makes tough plays look easy.
