We caught up with the talented top 10 prospect to get an update on what visits he plans to take including one official visit next week and where he stands with the recruiting process.
The Curie 6’3” shooting guard tells PrepHoopsIllinois that he will take his first official visit to Illinois State next week August 26-27. The Missouri Valley program has made him a major priority throughout the process and this is big for them to land the first visit from the talented Chicago guard. He talked with us about what stands out about the in-state program heading into the visit.
“They have a good program. I built a good relationship with Coach Luke (Yaklich) and Coach Muller. They have been recruiting me longer than any other program.”
Joiner also tells us he is in the process of setting up official visits to St. Louis, UAB, and Iowa State, but does not have dates locked in as of now. He also reports that he plans on making a college decision in late October or early November along with signing in the fall.
With these visits coming up what will he be looking for in a program while on these official visits?
“I’m looking to get a feel from the campus and the atmosphere. I’m looking to get an inside look on the coaching staff and the organization. Also I’m looking to see what resources they have to help student athletes maintain a high level of academics.”
Joiner is a perimeter scoring guard that has developed some combo guard skills over the last year. He was a major part of Curie’s state championship team last season and came back with another big campaign for Team Rose on the Adidas circuit. Joiner is a plus shooter that can hit mid-range jumpers and threes for days. As we said the development of his ball handling has taken his game to new heights.
He currently sets at #7 overall in the 2017 rankings and the fourth highest rated uncommitted player on the board.
