It isn’t the top team of the program but they seemed to win some of the biggest games of the year. This particular year, they were built around their wings. Guys like Grant Smith, Sterling Weatherford, Jonah Jackson, and Jon Ross Richardson were all guys that seemed to torment other teams. However, their guards were really productive. Jack Davidson took a big step forward this season. He had some big games and found his driving ability to be a factor in games. Now, we will see what the Magic team will have in store for next season.
Best Player: The guy that always seemed to be the guy making all the plays when I watched was Jack Davidson. He really showed that he was almost the opposite of his older brother. He’s an okay shooter but off the bounce he was so much more effective. He’s more of a true point guard than his brother as well and that is a plus for him. He’ll be the veteran guard for HSE this season so he should get quite a bit of Varsity minutes even though they are typically packed with talent.
Players To Watch: Mileek McMillian came to this team in July after running with Illinois Wolves. He’s a name that coaches have wanted more and more information on as of late with size being an ever-losing battle in recruiting. He’s not quite tall enough to match his game but at the non-DI level he’s going to be a difference-maker for a team. He’s the guy that could blow up and become a name in the state this winter if Merrillville can make another run like they did this past winter.
