They are a fairly aggressive group with good size, especially on the wings. Noah Hale and Reece Thomson run the backcourt and Brennan Neal is the playmaker on the wing with Chaz Hinds as the developing big man. The development of Hinds over the last year is easy to see and it gives this group a guy who can make plays on the block, something not many 2019 programs are able to say. Liked the potential of some of the players on this roster and a year of Varsity action for some of them could go a long way this high school season.
Best Player: Brennan Neal was the best player on the floor when I watched this team. Neal is a 6’3 wing who has the ability to just go out and make plays. Can shoot, can go off the bounce, and can get to the rim. He’s already long and lanky but has strength to his frame. His upside looks great right now and as he continues to play, his confidence should rise and he could be in line for a breakout season for Whiteland.
Players To Watch: The guy I want to watch this winter is Chaz Hinds. He stands about 6’6 now and like i talked about earlier, he has really started to develop his game within the low post. He’s a mobile guy and a decent athlete, enough to allow him to make most plays he needs to right now. The key here is where he fits in at Southport as they won’t have much size and they just lost their star post in Joey Brunk. If Hinds is able to find time on Varsity, I’m interested to see how he does against that level of competition.
