Zero Gravity hosted the “The Show” at U-Turn Sports Complex in Richmond, Virginia this past weekend. Over 50 different division one schools and numerous other programs were on hand to take in the action. Let’s take a look at some of the players who stood out from Virginia in the 16U Division.
Jay Robinson – 6’5’’ Wing – River City Reign – LC Bird
Robinson enjoyed a huge weekend, averaging over 16 points per game. The development in Robinson from the spring is evident. He was explosive in transition and excellent in slashing situations when attacking the basket. Robinson broke his man down, finished above the rim and shot the ball well. He is a good defender that can guard multiple positions. The rising junior definitely boosted his stock this past weekend.
Deja Jackson – 5’9’’ PG – Team Loaded 757 Clairborne – Deep Creek
Jackson is a lightning quick lefty that can really score it. He showed the ability to hit from deep, knocking down four threes against River City Reign in the first half. Jackson was also good off the bounce, penetrating into the lane and finishing through contact or over taller defenders. He has an edge about where it is apparent that he enjoys competing.
Azubuike Nwankwo – 7’2’’ C – Team Loaded VA – Wesleyan Christian
Nwankwo has a chance to be special. He moves well for his size, has great hands and dunks everything around the basket. The Wesleyan Christian prospect is an elite rim protector and rebounds inside and outside of his area. As he continues to develop and understand the game, look for him to blow up on the recruiting scene.
Kam Harris – 6’3’’ G – Team Loaded 757 – Amelia Academy
Harris is an intriguing prospect. He is a long and versatile combo guard. Harris is athletic, guards the ball well and can shoot it. He made plays at the rim and hit open threes all weekend long.
Aaron Cash – 6’6’’ PF – Team Loaded VA – Millwood
Cash continues to get better every time we see him. He made several nice moves out of the high post when facing his man up and finished at the rim. The lanky forward from Millwood also shot it well from the midrange area, played with a high motor did a good job guarding in ball screen situations.
Johnathan McGriff – 5’10’’ PG – Team Durant – Bishop McNamara (2019)
McGriff is a speedster, using his quickness to create angles to get into the paint to get shots for himself and others. He is an elite level ball handler with an incredible change of speed to blow by defenders. He also dogged the ball defensively, creating turnovers and wearing the opposing ball handlers down.
