Baseball takes up much of the spring, the same time as the biggest recruiting time of the year for basketball. At some point, you usually have to make a decision between the two for college.
That decision has already been made by 2017 guard Vincent Miranda. The 6’0 guard out of NorthWood (IN) is going to play basketball in college. Although, this was his first summer out playing AAU since middle school and his name is only starting to get put out in the coaching circles.
“It went well,” Miranda said of his summer. “After school baseball got over in early June I was all Basketball. I hadn’t played AAU since middle school because of baseball so being able to play in July was very beneficial and a cool experience. I’ve tried to get to as many camps as I can to get my name out there.”
Miranda already has a solid list of programs showing interest including Goshen, Anderson, Wabash, Rose-Hulman, Trine, and Earlham. He is still in the process of getting noticed and will do so more this fall in camps and leagues but he already has a solid idea of what he wants from a potential college.
“Academics are very important,” Miranda said. “I’d like to major in biochemistry so a good science program. Location I would like to stay somewhat close to home but that’s not too important. Style of play I would prefer uptempo but that isn’t a big deal. Somewhere that would put me in a good position to get my doctorate at a good school.”
The process isn’t close to complete right now and Miranda is pretty wide open. He’ll be back in open gyms and practices here this fall with NorthWood.
