“Recruiting is going pretty well,” Hird told NHR. “I’m going to the UMD and Upper Iowa camps coming up. So far I’ve only visited Briar Cliff and St. Olaf. I may visit St. John’s sometime soon.”
The 6-foot-3 Hird is still fairly open in his recruitment at this point.
“I think I’m pretty open to most schools as long as they’re in the Midwest area,” he said. “A lot of my decision will probably just go into how much I like the atmosphere and the program the school has.I’d like to get to more schools to visit, but I’m just busy with workouts and practices during the week and then tourneys on the weekends.”
With Hird, Tillotson and Tyler Riemersma all returning — and continuing to build chemistry in the offseason as they play with the Warriors — Bloomington Jefferson could be a pretty good team next year. The core has been developing their cohesion for years.
“I’d say winning the conference is a big goal for sure,” Hird said. “Getting to state is something I’ve always wanted to achieve. Jefferson hasn’t gone to state for a while, so getting there my senior year would be extremely fun and special.”
Hird will play wide receiver — and catch passes from Tillotson, the Jaguars’ quarterback — in the fall.
