There is no such thing as “too small” as the 6'1 small forward crashes the board on both sides of the court, contest shots at the rim, and guards players who are strictly post players. Amir Foster brings energy to the court. He can shoot the three and get to the rim. When he gets to the rim, he means business. He is constantly looking to posterize defenders as they are in his way. After offense has had its time, he is quick to get back on defense and make a stop. He is often considered a mismatch being 6'1 and playing small forward but he has proven to be one of the key defenders on his team. Foster has been playing for All-Ohio Black on the AAU circuit this summer.
The undersized small forward from Trotwood-Madison High School has received offers from Ashland University and Urbana University.
What division could Foster fit in well with?
“Hopefully I would have the chance to play D-I, but D-II works just as well.”
With being only 6'1 at the position he is playing, it is hard to tell what division he would fit just right with.
Foster can play the wing or small forward depending on the matchups. Being a defensive player, I asked “Who do you take your game after?”
“I would say Gary Payton” Foster said.
To be a young high school player and be very into the defensive side of the ball is very key. He can also be a problem to other small forwards who may not be as athletic as him.
“I play every game like it is my last. I will not be outworked. I play hard on both sides of the ball” Foster said.
Trotwood-Madison has a target on their backs this upcoming basketball season. Going undefeated in their conference and overall schedule, and losing in the regional semis, teams are out for them as they have most of the team returning this year. Foster will be a senior this upcoming year so his leadership skills will be needed.
“My only goal for this season is to win state. We were so close to getting there last season, now it is time to put it all together and get the job done. Every other goal I have will come during our run to state” said Foster.
Foster will be a player to watch for the 2016-2017 basketball season.
