Prep Hoops Finale Friday Stock Risers
The Prep Hoops Finale got underway in Oklahoma City on Friday night. Several players had big nights leading their teams to victory. Get a good look at what players raised their stock on Friday night below.
Marvin Johnson 2017 Playmaker Express Elite
Johnson is an athletic freak and his athleticism was on full display Friday night. Johnson finished with 25 points scoring the ball very well from inside the arc. He attacked the rim and scored at will. Johnson is a special talent in the 2017 Class.
Dalton Vinson 2018 Team Griffin Forward
Vinson is a 6’7 Forward with great upside. He is starting to gain confidence, which is taking his game to another level. He knocked down a three and showed off his improved jumper. If Vinson can continue to shoot the ball well it will take his game up a notch. Lookout for Vinson who is quickly rising in the 2018 Oklahoma Class.
Latrell Jones 2017 New Orleans Wolves Combo Guard
Jones found his shooting stroke early in the contest and never looked back. The Louisiana native came up clutch down the stretch with timely baskets. Jones hit several three-point shots to lift his team to victory over a tough Oklahoma Wolfpack team.
Barron Tanner 2017 Playmaker Express Elite Wing
Tanner is an overlooked Wing in the 2017 Oklahoma Class. He did a lot of small things well on the court for Playmaker Express Elite. He will have the chance to prove himself as the weekend continues. Tanner did knock down several jumpers including two three-pointers. Tanner will be an intriguing Oklahoma Wing to follow at 6’4.
Brantly Thompson 2017 OKC Wizards Wing
Thompson’s squad had a rough day against a talented Team Griffin team, but Thompson performed well. He scored the ball well even when he was guarded by smaller quicker players or tall trees inside. Thompson continues to prove he is one of the most talented Division II available Wings in Oklahoma. He holds an offer from Oklahoma Baptist.
Tyree Malone Playmaker Express Elite Point Guard
Malone has a smooth shooting stroke from behind the arc. He caught fire in the second half hitting three straight treys. Malone is the type of player that can ignite a team very quickly. He has not received much interest from small colleges in the region, but that should change if he continues to have a big weekend.
Read Streller Game Changer Hoops Forward
Streller is a player small colleges will fall in love with over time. He has everything you could want academically with great grades and a high ACT score. Not to mention he is tough inside at 6’8. Streller rebounded the ball very well, which is due to his great awareness on the court and hard work to box out opponents. He has also improved his offensive post maneuvers.
Greyden Steinmetz 2017 Fort Cobb Tropics Wing
Steinmetz is simply a scoring machine from the wing. He stands around 6’3 with a clutch jump shot that continued to fall all night long. Steinmetz is in the conversation as one of the top shooters in Oklahoma from three-point land. Steinmetz projects to the Division II level.
Aaron Lucas 2017 PWP Select Point Guard
Lucas is an absolute gamer on the court at the Point. He works so hard on both ends of the floor bringing everything he has to the table. Lucas played great defense coming up with a couple of steals. He also distributed the ball well for PWP Select.
Colt Savage 2018 PWP Select Combo Guard
The more I watch Colt Savage the more I like his game. He can play the Point or at the two. He drove the ball to the basket really strong and finished well inside. Down the stretch with the game on the line Savage was the player who wanted the ball in his hands. He came up big for PWP Select at several points of the game. Keep a close eye on Savage’s development over the next two years. He picked up his first offer from Oklahoma Baptist this week.
Payton Bradley 2017 PWP Select Combo Guard
Bradley is tough as nails at the guard spot for PWP Select. He is a player that can do so many different things for you on the court. He is probably best described as a utility player because of all the different roles he can play for a team. Bradley played fantastic defense down the stretch for PWP Select. When the game was on the line in Triple OT Bradley hit the free-throw to seal the victory. He is a gamer and certainly a clutch player.
Trez Hankins 2018 Servants Shooting Guard
Hankins got hot from deep and never cooled off. He has been the most consistent player for the Servants scoring the ball game in and game out well. Hankins is best when given the ball behind the arc off of a drive and kick. Hankins is a good spot up shooter, but can also create offense off the bounce. Over the past year Hankins is one of the most improved players in Oklahoma.
Cameron Martin 2017 Oklahoma Wolfpack Post
Martin looked good in his first game back on the court from his knee surgery in the spring. He is still a little rusty, but for the most part was very solid in the paint. He rebounded the ball well at 6’9 with a good frame. Martin will attract Division I attention this winter.
Ben Jenkins 2017 Servants Post
Jenkins struggled to get going at first, but started to rebound the ball very well in the second half of the Servants game against PWP Select. Jenkins has some questions at times about his motor. With that said when his motor was running he played very well down the stretch. Jenkins posted a double-double in a tough triple OT loss.
David Sumo 2017 Servants Combo Guard
Sumo wanted the ball in his hands as the clock wound down. He is best suited as a Point Guard for the Servants. Sumo displayed his nice three-point shot in the second half. Sumo must be more consistent with his jumper from the outside, but when he is on it is tough to stop him.
Brady Manek 2017 Team Griffin Forward (Oklahoma Commit)
Manek was a man among boys on Friday with Team Griffin. He played with tons of confidence and it showed as he dominated the boards. Manek was aggressive attacking the rim and scoring at will. Manek will be very tough to stop this weekend at the Prep Hoops Finale.
