Continue ReadingI wanted to give Matt and John Bezedicek separate articles, but the twins talked to each other about their answers, listed the same colleges as being interested, and said that they would like to play with each other. So I am, writing my first dual recruiting report on the 6-foot-3 brothers from Osseo and Minnesota Heat.
“They play as hard as any kids we have ever had in the program,” said Willie Vang, Minnesota Heat program director and founder. “They’re great kids. They can guard positions 1-5 in AAU and they can shoot it well.”
The Bezediceks and Heat Bui have enjoyed success this summer, most recently finishing as No. 1 in bracket play at last weekend’s Summer Slam event.
“This AAU season has been great,” Matt said. “It took our team a couple weeks to mesh, but we have played exceedingly well, especially in the NHR State Tournament. I have received interest from some D2 programs like Bemidji State, Minot State, and Sioux Falls. Also, some D3 schools have talked to me. Right now, I don’t know if I want to go to college for basketball or baseball so that is a decision I’ll have to make.”
John listed the same teams as Matt, also adding the D3 interest. A big question for schools will be if the duo are a package deal; the Bezediceks say that in a perfect world, that would be the case.
“I would like to go to college with Matt,” John said, “but at the end of the day, we will choose the option best for each of us.”
