Xavier Rhodes 6’1″ MoKan Elite (Rockhurst): The slender point guard is a smooth performer when he has the ball in his hands. Rhodes moves upcourt with excellent quickness, but he is always under control and never rushed. He can get to the basket and score around the rim and stop and pop with short jumpers. He is equally capable of knocking down jumpers from beyond the 3-point line.
Landon Harrison 5’10” Missouri Combat (Helias): Tough little guard who averaged 18 points and seven assists during the weekend. He is a fearless guard who attacked the basket and scored through contact. He is also a very good shooter who spread the ball around and made his teammates better. When the game was tight, Harrison loved to have the ball in his hands to make a play for his team. After an excellent weekend, he received his first offer from Lincoln University.
Austin Thompson 6’2″ Missouri Hustle (MICDS): One of the top stock risers in the Class of ’18, Thompson continued his excellent play in July as he emerged as a potent offensive threat. Helped lead the Hustle to the Sweet 16 in the 17U tournament. He owned the mid-range area as he consistently knocked down 15-17 footers off the dribble. He was able to get in the lane and get tough buckets through contact and score in transition. He has became a strong two-way point guard with athleticism and a high basketball IQ.
Kaden Evans 5’8″ MoKan Select (Oak Park): Excellent point guard who has the ability to handle the ball, pass the ball and shoot it from long distance. He has a nice set of handles with the ability to change speeds and directions. He can get himself in the lane and knock down short jumpers or score on the drive. He really can shoot the basketball from 3-point range. Has the ability to shoot it off the catch or come off screens with a quick release.
Kenny Chambers 6’0″ MBA Flight 17U (Willard): A strong combo guard who performed well on a very good MBA Flight 17U team. Did a nice job at the point or off the ball. He moved well without the ball got to the open spots. He was very good at knocking down corner 3-pointers, which he did on a consistent basis.
R.J. Wright 5’10” St. Louis Prospects (Webster Groves): The slender combo guard enjoyed a terrific weekend in helping the Prospects to the Elite Eight. He was one of the top shooters in the tournament. On Saturday, Wright recorded scoring performances of 25 and 24 points. He made five 3-pointers in one half during one victory. R.J. also put it on the floor and displayed a nice float game.
Diego Bernard 5’10” MoKan Elite (St. Joe Lafayette): Bernard may be small, but he’s quick and very aggressive, especially when it comes to attacking the basket. Whether he is in transition or in the half court offense, Bernard can get to the bucket and finish with strength. He will come off the pick and roll and come down hill whenever possible. He is an aggressive defender who can cause problems as well.
Trent Lyles 6’0″ Missouri Hustle (Sacred Heart): A nice point guard who has some slick handles, which he uses to get himself in the lane or two create separation from his defender. Trent has a nice float game when he gets into the lane and also a good mid-range jumper. He showed the ability to carry a team for three or four possessions with tough buckets off the dribble when he team needs it.
Lavell Harris 5’10” St. Louis Prospects (St. Mary’s): A young man with excellent speed and quickness who has the ability to change the tempo whenever he enters the game. He really makes things happen on both ends. He can be a pest on defense with his ball pressure. On offense, he will push the ball and he is capable of knocking down open 3-pointers.
Jadis White 6’1″ MoKan Elite (Chaminade): A very good pass first point guard who did a nice job moving the ball and getting open shots for his teammates. When he had opportunities to score, he took advantage of them by getting into the lane and scoring on floaters. He is a tough kid who will dig in defensively and compete on every possession.
