Eysan Wiley 6’6″ MoKan Select (Rock Bridge): One of the true constants of the grassroots season has been Wiley’s productivity in the post. He was a walking double-double whenever he stepped on the court. He brought a great amount of effort and combined it with his ability to score and rebound at a consistent rate. He scored the winning points in an overtime victory during pool play. He has quick feet around the basket and has a good second jump to get offensive rebounds.
Brandon Emmert 6’6″ MBA Flight (Bolivar): A true low-post threat who knows how to play with his back to the basket. He really sits down and gets strong post position and he knew how to seal his man when fronted to set up the lob pass for easy layups. He has strong hands to catch in traffic and he can really score. A clinic. His game is not confined to the low post and he showed the ability to step out and knock down 15 footers. The Division II schools were following him all over the gym.
Olawale Odofin 6’9″ St. Louis Gym Rats (St. Louis Christian): One of the bigger stock risers during the July evaluation period, Odofin was a impact player on both ends of floor. His size and length made him an imposing force as a shot blocker and rebounder. I was impressed with his offensive game in the last two weeks. He scored in the post with nice moves and he step out and made 10-12 footers. He also had some impressive put-back slam dunks. His play earned him an offer from SEMO this week.
Willie Lucas 6’5″ Missouri Hustle Central (Poplar Bluff): A nice sized power forward with the perimeter shot of a guard. It makes him an ideal Stretch 4. He was a consistent 3-point threat throughout the weekend. In the post, he does a nice job of using his body and head fakes to keep defenders off balance. Has a good up and under move.
Myles Canady 6’4″ KC Elite (Nixa): I enjoyed watching this young man play because he quietly impacts a game on a lot of levels. He is a nice perimeter player, but his best asset is his passing ability. As a forward, you can run your offense through him because of his ability to find open teammates. He works the post well and can knock down jump shots if not closely guard. His game is chalk full of fundamentals.
Deng Deng 6’4″ Next Level Elite Blue (North Kansas City): An undersized power forward who plays with a high motor, especially when he attacks the offensive boards. He is a very aggressive rebounder. He is at his best on offense when he attacks the basket hard off the dribble. He got a lot of positive results when do that.
