Jeremiah Tilmon Commits to Illinois
Illinois landed the biggest recruit of the John Groce era on Monday. Former East St. Louis star and current La Lumiere (IN) power forward Jeremiah Tilmon informs us has committed to the University of Illinois.
Tilmon was a prospect that the Illini targeted since before his freshman season and it paid off with a commitment from the five star talent. He is a game changer with his ability on the court and off the court.
On the court he is a supremely talented low post player with the ability to score with his back to the basket with a variety of post moves. Can step out to hit a face up jumper on occasion. Defensively he impacts the game with his rebounding and shot blocking ability where he is a great rim protector. Top 10 national type talent.
Off the court he gives Illinois more in-state recruiting credibility landing a premier McDonald’s All-American which could change the perception of prospects of the program. He also gives them a boost in the recruitment of the state’s top 2017 prospect Belleville Althoff’s Jordan Goodwin who he is close friends and plays with on the St. Louis Eagles.
Tilmon joins top five in-state prospects Da’Monte Williams (Peoria Manual) and Javon Pickett (Belleville East) in the Illini’s class.
