Caleb Bennett 6’5″ Oklahoma Run PWP (St. Joe Lafayette): The talented concluded an outstanding grassroots season with another excellent performance at the Jayhawk. The big highlight for Bennett was his 3-pointer at the buzzer to give PWP a victory during pool play. Caleb is an ideal wing player with his size and ability to score at all three levels. He can shoot the 3-pointer, attack the basket on the drive and knock down mid-range jumpers. He continues to receive Division I offers with his play.
Reggie Crawford 6’4″ St. Louis Eagles (Chaminade): The athletic wing has played an outstanding role for the Eagles for two very successful EYBL teams in 2015 and 2016. Crawford is a talented 3-point shooter with a Robert Horry-like habit of making them in clutch situations. When he’s not knocking down 3-pointers, he is also a lock-down defender. We saw more of the same at the Jayhawk last weekend.
Dru Smith 6’2″ Team Rush (Park Hill): A long, athletic wing who continued to be a defensive presence in the tournament. In Team Rush’s opening victory over rival KC Run GMC, Smith sealed the victory with a last-second strip and steal. He displayed his athleticism and high motor on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he is at his best when he’s running the court in transition and slashing to the basket.
Jake Neal 6’3″ Missouri Mavericks Silver (Otterville): This was my first time watching this Class 1 standout play and I was very impressed. He put up some huge scoring numbers in his school and I could see why. He has a quick first step to the basket and can get buckets. He displayed a nice 3-point stroke and the ability to create scoring opportunities with some slick escape moves. He scored 56 in a game during the season.
Jacob Meinershagen 6’2″ Missouri Maverick Silver (West County): A small-school standout who really knows how to get buckets in a variety of ways. He did a nice job of coming off screens and knocking down 3-pointers. He will attack the basket off the dribble to score or get himself to the free throw line. He once scored 51 points in a high school game, so he his very resourceful in finding the basket.
Tavon DiPalma 6’3″ Missouri Mavericks Silver (Waynesville): A long, lefty wing player who has some nice handles. He was at his best in the open court when he’s able to shake and bake and get to the basket. He also displayed a nice stop and pop jumper from 15 feet.
Wesley Sharp 6’6″ SEMO Bulls (Ellington); A long and rangy wing player who is very comfortable on the wing after spending much time in the post during his first two years of high school. He has developed into an excellent 3-point shooter who has the size to still go inside and score in the post. He can also use his height to pass over smaller defenders on the perimeter.
