Continue ReadingAZ Power Factory 16-U had a strong showing this past weekend in Vegas. Many coaches came to watch Steele Bennett and many left with a lot of interest in D’Maurian Williams. The group possesses a lot of length and some talented guards that make them very tough to match up with. Further, the coaching staff has done a nice job of not just coaching positions; rather, working with all of the guys on playing an array of spots. That has made this team quite versatile and increased the stock of many of the players on the team. The Factory 16U group should be ready to send off their players to have successful high school season and to make some more noise on the national circuit next club season.
Honorable Mentions:
Steele Bennett 6’11 PF/C 2018 Desert Vista – Bennett’s soft touch and above average footwork were on athleticism all weekend. Multiple coaches came to specifically see all that this 6’11″ prospect was capable of and many left happy. He does a nice job of running the court and has a great feel for his post moves. Moreover, his ability to find spots on the backboard were quite impressive and add considerably to his stock.
Andre Harris Andre Harris 6'7" | PF Hillcrest Prep | 2020 State #269 Nation AZ 6’6″ SF/PF 2019 Red Mountain – Harris has been one of the most consistent players on the Factory 16-U team and one of the most difficult players for opposing teams to guard. He has improved his ability to shoot the basketball and has good passing skills which makes it difficult for teams to put a standard 4 or 5 on him while on the perimeter. In addition, while on the block, he has good touch and a high basketball IQ that makes it hard for smaller players to size up with him. His stock has gone through the roof this summer, and he should be poised for a solid Sophomore campaign at Red Mountain.
Jaden Rollins 6’6″ SF/PF 2018 Desert Vista – Rollins athleticism and length helps this team greatly. He played anywhere from the 2 to the 4 for the group. He can have difficulty guarding really quick guards; however, he has good lateral quickness and length that enables him to guard most positions. In addition, he can shoot the basketball and play on the block which puts the opposing defenders at a disadvantage. His versatility make him an intriguing prospect for the next level.
D’Maurian Williams 6’3 PG 2019 Westview – Williams had moments last year where he absolutely left people in awe as to what he might accomplish as a high school prospect. If his performance was any sort of indication, Arizona fans need to pack out Westview’s gym to watch this young man. He uses his body as well as anyone in order to get an advantage over the defense. In addition, he has improved his shooting abilities which force players to guard him with more honesty. Defensively, he can still be a question mark, but he did show more of an interest in pressuring the basketball and playing solid help side defense. As that side of the game improves, Williams could and should end up being a very special player.
