The 6’9″ Diarra made his announcement on his twitter account earlier today. He chose the Huskies over schools such as New Mexico, Missouri, Cincinnati, Grand Canyon and many others.
“Everything about Washington was nice,” Diarra said. “The coaches were the main reason why I chose this team. I built a good relationship with Coach (Lorenzo) Romar, (Raphael) Chillious and (Will) Conroy.”
Diarra is an athletic forward who impacted games on both ends with his size, length and high energy. He was a rim protector on defense who could score in transition or make jump shots on the offensive end. He spent the summer playing for the Gateway Basketball Club 17U team that competed in the Adidas Uprising Gauntlet Series. He was a big factor in Gateway advancing to the Gauntlet Finale in Spartansburg, S.C.
Diarra joins a loaded recruiting class at Washington that includes five-star recruit Michael Porter, Jr., who committed to the Huskies earlier this month.
