Austin Katstra – 6’6’’ PF – Team Richmond Garner Road – Albermarle
Katstra was impressive in a win Saturday night. He plays with a constant high motor, has good hands, and a good understanding of how to establish position in the post. Katstra also showcased his shooting ability, knocking down multiple threes and is a better athlete than people give him credit for. He led Team Richmond with 20 points on the night.
Johquin “Pinky” Wiley – 5’11’’ PG – Team Loaded VA – LC Bird
Wiley was a true floor general in an a showcase game win over Big Shots Elite. He took the game over from a leadership perspective, putting people in the right spots and running his team. The LC Bird product finished with 14 points, hitting threes, a pullup and a couple of crafty finishes around the rim. His IQ and intangibles really separate him as a point guard.
Bryce Schneider – 6’5’’ Wing – Big Shots Elite – Laney – Richmond Commit
Schneider is a long lefty that can really shoot it. He displayed a good feel for the game, with a nose for the ball. The University of Richmond commit is a sneaky athlete who attacks the basket with aggression in transition. He scored 14 points in a loss to Team Loaded VA.
Charles Falden – 6’3’’ G – River City Reign – LC Bird
Falden turned it on against Team Richmond Garner Road, pouring in 29 points. He scored it in a variety of ways, hitting threes, step backs, mid range jump shots and finishing at the rim through contact. He has showed all July why he is one of the best scorers in the state of VA. A prep year at Massanutten should help Falden see an even bigger spike in his recruitment.
Darius George – 6’7’’ Forward – Big Shots Elite – Robert E. Lee
Darius looks the part of a ball player. He is extremely long and runs the floor very well for his size. George is versatile, showing the ability to play three or four different spots offensively and guard every position on the floor. He rebounded in and out of his area and is an underrated shooter as he knocked down several three’s.
Zach Jacobs – 6’7’’ Forward – River City Reign – Trinity
Jacobs has developed so much over the course of two years. His ball skills have come a long way, as he showed improved play out of triple threat, even using a ball screen a couple of times. He utilized his motor on the offensive glass for putbacks, slashed to the basket, ran the floor and scored in transition to finish with 21 points.
Aamir Simms – 6’9’’ PF – Team Loaded VA – Blue Ridge
In a contest where Big Shots tried to use their style of play to spread Team Loaded out with their shooting ability, movement, and versatility, Simms changed the entire game. He dominated the paint on both ends of the floor. The high major recruit is very polished on the block, he finished with either hand, and did a great job of feeling where the defender was and taking what the defense gave him, He was patient when catching it in the post and showed that he is a quality passer as well.
