Pair Standout For Grassroots Indiana
Grassroots Indiana 2017 White has been one of the more fun teams to watch this season and on Saturday, they showed that again. This time around, it was Carter Taylor and Gavin Griggs that impressed. Taylor is a big, corn-fed post player from Frankfort and he played like he should, tough and overpowering in the post. He played against a Shining Star-Price team that had similar, better prospects but he was the winner in that battle. I really liked his ability to be functional and efficient without shying away from contact. Griggs is another guy that non-DI programs should be taking a look at. He scores the ball really well with his size and build. He’s also very aggressive and is made perfectly to be a good wing scoring threat for a DIII or NAIA program.
Carey A Name To Watch
Winston Carey might be a name to watch in Northern Indiana this coming winter. The 5’8, 2017 point guard is a crafty speedster with the ball in his hands and he knows how to fill it up. The Indiana Dawgz-Gardner guard had a really good game early Saturday morning at Warren Central where he showcased his speed as he kept blowing by defenders in the half-court and in transition. He was excellent in counters off missed buckets. Solid point guard to add with a high-end skill.
Southern Indiana Has Players
We got a chance to watch Southern Indiana Red Hawks on Saturday as well. They have a pair of players that could come into play for recruiting this Fall and Winter. The first is Michael Rogers II. He’s a 6’4 wing with a great frame and some strength already there. He wasn’t as good as I have seen in the past but he looks the part. Rogers can really score the ball well and gets into the lane decently. His jumper is the next stage of his development. The other player is Jyrus Freels. He’s a large 6’5, probably at 250 pounds but he moves really well and isn’t afraid to get up and down the court. He was the most productive player on that team when I watched. A bit of a project in college but worth a look as a late add.
