- The SD Heat Tournament had bigger 16U and 15U fields but the 17U field had some meaningful games.
- First off the Sioux Falls Washington High School squad has taken a page out of the book of some of the teams in surrounding states by playing in Grassroots events and getting quality off-season work. They won four of five games only losing to Niners Elite. That’s two of the last three weekends that they have played and played well against teams that are full of top players from around South Dakota and North Dakota.
- South Dakota Heat got a really nice boost this weekend playing four games and winning three. It’s no secret that the SPTS and top division of Spring Jam opponents are top caliber teams and this was a nice weekend of earning some wins for them.
- Niners Select earned the win over fellow program opponents Niners Elite which is a good win for themselves and they got to play the talented Washington team twice which was a good experience.
- The first weekend for Niners Elite and Black Hills Gold resulted in some competitive games and wins from each which is all you can ask facing teams that have played several weekends together. Niners Elite lost their three games but a combined 15 points and won a game by a point so it was quality experience to get them ready for upcoming games.
