We will first be looking at a club’s top teams in those given age groups and will then circle back to their other teams. Today: NOVA Cavaliers 16U
As the NOVA Cavs enter their 11th season, their growing reputation as one of the state’s most recognized programs has created a strong interest among players in joining a club that prides itself on player development, team chemistry, player/team improvement, and learning experiences.
Organized by Program Director Jerry Lin, the NOVA Cavaliers have 10 teams in their program, including two at the respective 15U and 17U age groups. Below is a midseason report on the 16U team coached by Mark Gray-Mendes.

Goals for July: Continued improvement in preparation for the Hoop Group Summer Jam Fest at Spooky Nook, player development to prepare our guys to be major contributors at the Varsity level for their respective high school teams
Additional Thoughts/Notes: We have played an extremely difficult schedule to this point and have been very competitive with some elite level teams. We believe strongly that the tests we’ve put ourselves through will pay off down the stretch as we prepare our guys for a very aggressive 17U campaign next year. Our guys have improved tremendously this season and especially on the defensive end, which has allowed us to play our best basketball against some of the best competition in the area.
