Fred Thatch, Jr. 6’3″ Sikeston (2018)): The powerful swingman wreaked his usual havoc in the paint his brand of bully-ball in the paint as he scored with both hands. What is different about Thatch is that he has definitely worked on his ball handling skills. He had the ball in his hands much of the time and made good decision and made some very nice escape moves off the dribble. He also made several mid-range jumpers when defenders backed off him. In a game against Cardinal Ritter, Thatch also made five beautiful one-handed outlet passes that led directly to layups. Excellent court vision.
Steve Webb 6’2″ Westminster (2017): The combo guard was very impressive on the day and earned a scholarship offer from UMSL. He is such a relentless competitor on both ends of the court. When he has the ball, he stays in attack mode and has the strength and athleticism to get to the basket against any defense. He also had his share of steals when darting into the passing lanes. The one thing he needs to improve upon is his free throw shooting. As much as he attacks and draws contact, he can add 6-8 points on his scoring average with better free throw shooting.
Ryan Trice 5’11” Cardinal Ritter (2017): A small combo guard, Trice was one of the most impressive offensive players at the camp. He started off with three consecutive 3-pointers in Ritter’s first game against Westminster. He did a nice job of running to the open spots and knocking down jumpers. He also scored off the bounce and did a nice job of scoring in transition. A transfer from Chaminade, he will help Ritter’s offense tremendously.
Cliff DeGroot 6’3″ Westminster (2017): This young man put on a great shooting display in the Wildcats’ last two games of the day. He made 10 3-pointers against Sikeston’s zone. It was pretty much all catch and shoot, but he was in such a rhythm, he could not miss. He also added several more 3-pointers against Francis Howell North in the second game. He is working hard on his ball handling to try to create shots off the dribble to diversify his game.
Xavier Womack 6’5″ Cardinal Ritter (2017): The long small forward had an excellent game in Ritter’s victory over Sikeston with 14 points. He was tremendous in the second half as he had some strong finishes at the rim. He also got busy on the boards and blocked some shots as well. When he is playing with a high motor, he accomplishes quite a bit. He just has to keep that motor running to keep making an impact on the game.
Jared Phillips 5’9″ Cardinal Ritter (2018): A ball-hawking point guard, Phillips is the linchpin for Ritter’s aggressive, full-court pressure defense. He is all over the place on defense, which he plays with great energy and passion. He is a strong ball handler who is tough to dislodge from the ball when moving forward. He is at his best offensively when getting in the lane and dropping in floaters.
Kevin Jones 5’10” Sikeston (2019): A hard-charging point guard who is always looking to make things happen. He is at his best when he’s attacking on the drive, but he did make three 3-pointers in the Bulldogs’ victory over Westminster. He is a tough defender who is always looking to get into an opposing ball handler. Very aggressive and does not back down against anyone.
Trey Jenkins 6’6″ Sikeston (2019): This long, athletic young big played with a lot of activity around the basket and got very positive results. He scored 12 points against Cardinal Ritter. He finished well around the basket and was a constant force on the offensive glass. As usual, he got his share of blocked shots on the day. He has a very good future ahead of him.
