CG Jamir Moultrie | Bishop McNamara
Jamir Moutlrie’s toughness and big time shot making ability were on display throughout the course of the day. The super skilled, crafty lead guard is a good paint getter who seeks and consistently finishes through contact. He hit a series of threes, both from the catch and off the dribble, demonstrating good elevation and a quick, confident release on his jumper. Defensively, Moultrie was very solid as a result of his quickness, strength, and work rate.
CG Terry Nolan Jr. | Mt. Carmel
Terry Nolan Jr. stood out in a variety of areas for Mt. Carmel. The 6-foot-3 guard owns a strong frame, and is a big time athlete who can finish consistently in the lane through contact. He’s a solid defender both in the post and on the perimeter, and has the ability to pull up on a dime and consistently hit from mid range. A deliberate decision maker with the ball, Nolan demonstrates a high basketball IQ and has the ability to get into the paint and create. His jumper still needs some consistency, but his confidence off the bounce is well noted. His game is best suited for an uptempo style, given his high work rate, ability to get up and down, accelerate, and make quick decisions.
PG Jelani Williams | Sidwell Friends
Considered among the biggest stock risers in the area over the past few weeks, Jelani Williams continued his strong play on Saturday. A vocal leader to his teammates, Williams does a good job communicating is very alert off the ball in help side situations. At 6-foot-5, Williams is an active presence on the glass as a result of his motor and willingness to box out on each possession. A crafty handler with a solid set of ball skills, Jelani has the ability to push the ball in transition or slow it down and make reads in half court sets. He is crafty around the basket, and exhibits a soft touch along with a strong middle game.
SG Tahjay Jacobs | Woodside
A strong wing who exhibits a high motor and good leadership intangibles, Tahjay Jacobs was a two-way standout on Saturday. He remained consistently active and vocal defensively, and was especially engaged in his rebounding efforts. A capable shooter off the dribble from long range, Jacobs can also mix it up and score from a variety of areas on the court, but is most effective in the middle areas and around the rim. The future is bright for the developing young wing.
SG Quinton Drayton | Bowie
One of the more under-the-radar prospects in the DMV region, Quinton Drayton should not be slept on for too much longer. A natural scorer who is prolific from long range, Drayton has the ability to shoot 3’s from the catch and off the bounce. He fills the lane correctly on the break, and can finish above the rim with athleticism. He’s a good rebounder out of his position, and has good strong hands which enable him to secure loose balls in traffic. His potential as an on-ball defender is very good, given his instincts and length in conjunction with his quickness and proper positioning.
PG Jahlil Jenkins | Virginia Academy
Jahlil Jenkins got everything started on the defensive end, as he did a great job moving his feet and applying consistent pressure on the ball. At the lead guard spot, he handles the ball with confidence and does a good job keeping his head up and scanning the floor for open teammates. A crafty handler who can pass with either hand, Jenkins demonstrates an exceptional feel along with an unselfish demeanor. He likes getting guys involved, and is not afraid to take and make big time shots himself. He’s a shifty paint getter who knows how to change speeds, and does a good job drawing contact.
SG Jalen Gabbidon | Glenelg Country
A true jack-of-all-trades, PA native Jalen Gabbidon brings a huge impact to Glenelg on both ends of the court. At 6-foot-5, he’s a good rebounding guard who does well to push it in the open court. He makes solid decisions with the ball, and knows how to get others involved. Jalen is a strong guard with a high IQ who can get into the paint, draw contact, and finish ambidextrously with touch and consistency in traffic. Perhaps the most impressive aspect of his well-rounded game is his tireless motor.
