There were a variety of prospects, some trying to continue their rise and other who are trying get their name out there. Here is a quick overview of the day and the top players.
Smith Continues His Rise
One of the top performers on the day was Northeastern’s Tyler Smith. The Indiana All-Star guard had a great last few weeks as he has shown off his new and improved jump shot. He’s looking and playing more confident than every and you can see how he is likely to have a big scoring uptick over the next year. He hit quite a few threes and some mid-range pullups. Smith has all the speed in the world and now with another form of offense in his pocket, his trajectory only seems to be going up.
Booker Showcasing His Game
Booker has been playing on a very talented Pocket City team for a few years now and most around the state know who he is but on Thursday he really showed how good of an offensive weapon he can be. Booker was great shooting the ball and creating with it in his hand. He’s a tall kid with plenty of strength and at the right level in college he could be a pain to defend with that combined with how well he handles the ball. Booker’s jumper was falling and he was also getting into transition a bit. He drew plenty of eyes throughout the day.
Slew Of Forwards Played Outstanding
One of the best groups we had were the forwards. Many versatile guys with size and scoring ability. Trevor Lakes was one of the more sought after guys on the day with his ability to stroke it from deep. At 6’7, he fits perfectly as a 3/4 at a lower level program with room to grow. I also really liked what I saw out of Aaron Shank. He’s got a ways to go to fill out his body but he’s been consistently getting better with his finishing due to his agility. Ben Kinker, who was a little hobbled by a sore ankle, still showed a lot of skill on a long and lanky frame. Plays really well faced up to the basket.
