The 6’1″ Bush was a three-year starter at University City, but he transferred to Ladue for his senior year. Bush is one of the top point guards in the senior class and his impact at Ladue was immediate.
The Rams played in the Lindenwood Team Camp and advanced all the way to the championship game. With Bush at the controls, Ladue defeated highly-regarded Illinois metro east team Belleville East, Belleville West, and Alton on their way to the championship game.
Bush did a tremendous job of facilitating the offense and distributing the ball to post player River Rhoads and shooter Tate Hotz. Ladue had a talented team in 2015, but were missing a point guard of Bush’s caliber.
“I’m fitting in very well with Ladue,” Bush said. “They were missing a point guard and that’s what I do. I get the ball to the shooters. If I do that, we should be really good.”
Bush is one who kind of operates under the radar, but he has received some interest from Division I schools such as Southeast Missouri State and Southern Illinois. He is an excellent ball handler who is very strong with the ball. He plays through contact well and has very good court vision.
As a junior at University City, he averaged 7.5 assists a game which was among the leaders in the St. Louis area in 2016. He also averaged 11.4 points, 3.3 and 2.4 steals a game while shooting 50 percent from the field. Bush enjoyed a shining moment in the district playoffs when he had 17 points and 10 assists in the Lions’ upset victory over top-seeded Westminster Christian.
“My strengths are being able to see the floor well,” Bush said. “I’m able to drive and kick. I’m pretty good on the move and working the fast break. I want to improve on my pull up jump shots and working off screens.”
Bush is a two-sport standout who has been playing varsity football since his freshman year. He has received his share of collegiate interest on the gridiron as well.
