He is a beloved student athlete that gave a 23-4 basketball team 23 minutes a game that included 8.4 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.5 steals a game while shooting 44 percent from the floor overall and 46 percent from the arc on 43 attempts.
On the football field Simon caught 26 passes for 355 yards and five touchdowns on offense and then as a defensive back intercepted six passes plus was in on 37 tackles (30 of them solo tackles).
As if he wasn’t busy enough Simon has also played with ECI this spring.
“It’s going really well and really helps me understand where I’m at with basketball,” Simon said. “When competing with ECI I love how we play good teams and are well coached.
“This summer I want to improve my shooting and finish around the rim,” Habonimana said. “I feel like I got better attacking the rim this winter, now I just want to finish. I also want to be a better leader on the court and improve my shooting.”
Simon will have the opportunity to play college sports after his senior seasons on the hardwood and gridiron. It’s still early in the process but he will be a big playmaker on the football field as well as the ball handler and playmaker on the court.
“I have heard from some small schools in North Dakota for football and some schools out of state as well,” said Simon.
