Bey was solid during his team’s championship run in the Greivis Vasquez Bracket at Maryland Team Camp. He continued his consistent production at BSN Summer League, where he led his team with 22 points this past Sunday. Bey expects to do more of the same in July with his AAU club, New World.
“First half I think I did pretty well. Trying to lead the team. I tried to do the same things in the second half but it wasn’t enough,” Bey said about his performance vs. St. Mary’s Ryken at on Sunday at BSN Summer League. “I should have led even more in the second half but I know it wasn’t enough to get the win so that’s all I care about.”
Bey is a very versatile player. He can handle his own on both ends of the court. Rebounding and scoring are his biggest assets. Bey also prides himself as being a leader to his teammates. He also makes it a point to outwork others.
“My rebounding ability and defensive pressure are underrated,” Bey stated. “I feel as though people underrate my rebounding because they don’t think I’m as athletic as a lot of other guards but I try to be as versatile as possible.”
Towson recently offered Bey his first scholarship. He claims interest from a variety of other division 1 schools. His main concern at this point is to try and bring his team together. Bey believes his recruitment will come along if he’s able to do that.
“I’m working on my strength, athleticism, quickness. A lot more outside the game of basketball,” Bey explained. “Rather than just picking up a ball just trying to lift, work out and stuff like that so I can be ready for college.”
Born in Charlotte, Bey grew up in Largo, where he currently resides. The shooting guard is a hard-working student who carries a 3.0 GPA at Sidwell Friends, which is known for its rigorous academics. As he continues to make the physical and mental improvements he mentioned, Bey should see his recruitment continue to trend upward.
