Continue ReadingConant 6’8” power forward Michael Downing is oozing with upside in the class of 2017. Downing is a long and lanky post that is a long term prospect. He runs the floor well in transition and is a shot blocking presence. Very raw offensively as a prospect at this stage. The college that puts in time developing Downing could get a reward at the end of the day!
Downing who transferred to Conant as a junior spoke about his new team and how it went as a junior.
“My year went really good at Conant. It was big for me because I transferred from St. Joe’s where I didn’t play at all to make a big impact at Conant and contributing a lot to the team.”
He is playing with Young Legends on the UAA circuit this spring/summer.
“We have a pretty good team. We have good chemistry and play together. We compete every time on the floor.”
Downing explained what he feels the biggest assets in his game are at this stage.
“Running the floor, hustling, rebounding, blocking shots, and trying to contribute anyway I can.”
Drake is a college program that has shown early interest.
