The Nigeria native, who recalls playing basketball for the first time at around age 13, has seriously improved over the last 6 months. He earned an invite to the NBPA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville last week, and mentioned a handful of high major who programs are recruiting him.
“I’m hearing from Arizona, Georgetown, Penn State, and Ole Miss,” Nwuba stated.
The sturdy, powerfully built, 6-foot-10 center is a force defensively. Nwuba can contest shots at a high level, and rebound effectively in traffic. He runs the floor, crashes the glass, and takes pride in communicating defensively.
“I try to help my team communicate on defense,” Nwuba explained. “I try to bring motivation to the team so that we play together defensively and help the team win.”
As he continues to develop his post moves and improve his shooting form, Nwuba has the mobility and athleticism to guard power forwards at the next level. He showed signs in his first two games at Top 100 Camp, but is still committed to improving.
“I played ok, but I need to improve in my next game,” Nwuba said. I’m trying to work both on the defensive end and the offensive end.”
There is no question that Nwuba is a physical paint presence who can impact the game at a high level defensively. As he continues to work on polishing his offensive arsenal, he could develop into the next dominant big man to come out of Oak Hill.
