The 2017 talent has taken a strong step forward with Cristo Rey Jesuit High School and D1 Minnesota in the past half year and now he’s collected scholarship offers from schools all over the nation.
Texas. Florida. Xavier. Memphis. Iowa State. UNLV. Those are just a few of a list that will continue to expand this summer when more teams watch him play with D1 Minnesota in Atlanta, Minneapolis, and Las Vegas this summer.
The Minnesota Gophers have of course also offered Jericho and yesterday Sims and members of his family were on the Twin Cities campus for about their fifth unofficial visit. NHR caught up with Jericho after the trip.
“The visit to Minnesota was great,” Sims told NHR. “It was good for me to see the new improvements they have for the following years. Things can only get better from there.
“During the visit I was introduced to most of the players on the team, I saw a visual blueprint of the future of the training facility and I was introduced to some of the other staff members on the team.”
Sims likes the Gopher staff and enjoyed his time with them.
“The staff at Minnesota are great people,” Jericho said. “The visit there just cleared things up and answered my questions.”
The list of schools going after Jericho is long but a select group is recruiting the hardest in addition to Minnesota.
“Nebraska, Dayton, Kansas State, Iowa State, Texas, Xavier, DePaul are the other teams I’m hearing from the most,” Sims said.
Sims averaged 22.9 points and 11.9 rebounds per game as a junior and often had to play point guard for his school.
