“Things are going alright,” said Barrow about playing with the team. “Going out of town to play top notch competition out of state is good. It’s been a big change from playing nationally ranked teams to playing South Dakota teams over and over again.”
Barrow’s spring squad was solid in the Spring Showcase in Chicago during the open period, again won most of their games in the Jayhawk Invitational in early May, and despite an upset to the 17th ranked team in Minnesota’s 16U division the PBC National team won three of four games in the Spring Jam at the Pentagon the second open weekend.
After playing in these three events as well a sophomore season on the Lincoln junior varsity and varsity Barrow has a focus for the things he wants to improve.
“Definitely working on my shooting ability and to working to become more of a communicator on the court,” said Barrow.
Barrow will step into a big spot next winter as he and the 2018 class of Patriots join the returning juniors to defend the Lincoln back to back state titles. Dillon has a few memories that stick out.
“My top moments of last season included starting when Lee Ransom was hurt, and cheering on my teammates in the state tournament when I left for a cruise so I didn’t get to play,” said Barrow.
Barrow and fellow juniors-to-be Diang Gatlauk and Alex Glanzer head the 2018 group joining rotation seniors-to-be Carson Coulter, Simon Higgason, and Andrew Tverberg as some of the keys to next year’s line-up.
“If we want to keep being successful we would have to have lots of talking and great defense because with our size it’s going to be tough match-up wise, but our speed makes up for it. We got some speed on our team.”
This summer the PBC National team will play in Seattle, Phoenix, and Orlando and all of this basketball traveling and focus has Dillon starting to think about his future.
“I’d like to go to college mainly off a basketball scholarship, and to study sports science to be an athletic trainer or something in that field,” said Barrow.
