With the amount of interest coming towards the six-foot guard, it’s easy to see the attention he is gathering.
Alongside an offer from Queen’s University (NC), the Our Lady of Mount Carmel (MD) point guard is sporting interest from a number of schools including Rider, Pfeiffer, Mount St. Mary’s, East Carolina, and Charlotte.
According to Felton, the interest comes from his emergence as a leader on his high school team and also with Crusader Nation this summer.
“My last high school season went well. I think I played great. I felt as though I was a leader on my team and carried the team to the championship,” said the point guard.
“Last year my role was to just really be a leader and help the young guys out; also, facilitating scoring,” Felton continued.
He really emphasized being a vocal leader in his interview with PHM, which is one attribute Felton looks to highlight for coaches at upcoming elite camps.
“Just being a vocal leader, locking up on defense, running the offense, and just playing hard every chance I get,” said the point guard, who has garnered camp invites from Montclair St, Rider, Queen’s (NC), Mt. St. Mary’s, East Carolina, and Temple.
Playing with Crusader Nation this summer, Felton is eager to continue his role as a leader.
“Coach puts the ball in my hands, and he wants me to be a leader, be more vocal, play lock down defense, and do anything it takes to win,” he said.
As a point guard, the Our Lady of Mount Carmel player tells PHM that he feels his best skill on the court is his “ball-handling,” which is sure to buy time to find the open teammate on the court.
Looking ahead in preparation for his next high school season, Felton sees the opportunity to tune up his “defense and rebounding” in hopes of drawing more eyes as the summer rounds off.
Essentially, a coach can use one phrase to describe what is important to Felton on the court: being a vocal leader.
