We wrote about him as one of our Player Of The Week award winners, and he said his height was around 6’2″ in the winter. Somewhere between then and now, Brian gained a few inches and now lists himself at 6’4″; he can already see the benefits on the court.
“I’ve grown a couple inches since the winter,” Sitzmann said. “Hopefully it won’t stop. It helps me score in every way. I have been able to post up and helps when finishing at the rim.”
Those few inches make Sitzmann more attractive as a prospect when combined with his already apparent scoring ability. He has played a key role for Fury Kallman, a successful club team that NHR has ranked in the No. 3 slot for 17U rankings.
“The season is going really well,” Sitzmann said. “We’ve lost only four games and won four tournaments! We are getting better every weekend too. I think it’s because we all play good together and don’t care who scores. Everyone contributes every game and plays hard.”
As his senior year approaches, Sitzmann has heard from college programs like Saint Mary’s, St. John’s (MN), Bethel, Briar Cliff, Morningside, St. Scholastica, Augustana, UW-Eau Claire. He plans on camping at Augustana, UM-Duluth and St. Cloud State.
“My goal is to go somewhere D2, but I can see myself playing D3 or NAIA as well,” Sitzmann added. “I want to go somewhere with decent size and a good education. My goal has always been to get a scholarship.”
Sitzmann is working on improving the quickness of his shot release and his ball security. NHR sees him as a prospect who could generate some more attention this winter, especially if he keeps growing.
