The 6-foot-7 Spann-Ford has played the role of both small forward and power forward successfully this spring for the Minnesota Comets in addition to being a leader and late game clutch playmaker for the 19-6 team.
“Spring went very well and gave me the chance to travel and play the best players in my age” Spann-Ford told NHR. “It also helped not only me but my team know how to work hard in the summer and win games as a team and not as individuals.
“As for myself going forward I would like to improve my shooting ability and defensive awareness and being consistent.”
Spann-Ford gave St. Cloud Tech team leading totals in scoring (13.8), rebounding (7.8), and assists (3.1) last year for the 15 win Tigers. Tech will bring back their entire rotation next season including James Kaczor and Rauch Chuol in the backcourt and Spann-Ford, Trevor Koenig, and Jack Mussman up front plus Max Martig and Kail Lindgren. Overall the talent is there for a run next season.
“We have very high expectations on this season and we want to be better than last year and with our experience we should be a good team and win the conference and see what we can do in the section playoff,” Spann-Ford said.
Tech would have to get past defending section champion Maple Grove which would be a tall task but with one more year of maturity and more talent up front they would have a better opportunity than last season.
Spann-Ford is a guy that can lead a program. North Dakota State thinks highly of him as they offered Brevyn last spring.
“It really felt like the hard work being put in was beginning to see results but I know that having two years left of high school basketball left means there’s a lot to improve on and become a better all around player,” Brevyn said about the offer.
Yesterday when college coaches could call 2018s Brevyn once again head from Northern Iowa , Drake, Loyola-Maryland, North Dakota, UW-Green Bay, and Lafayette plus College of Charleston and Elon called for the first time.
