“AAU has gone really well so far,” said Rook. “The speed and physicality with the u17 level has changed and improved my game.”
In the games in the Twin Cities and Dallas that PHD viewed Rook was the Schoolers starting point guard and he did an outstanding job pressuring the ball defensively and running the Schooler offensive system on the offensive end.
“In the upcoming months I want to improve my floater in the lane and (work on) a quick pull up.”
Rook helped lead Aberdeen Central back to the state tournament this winter as the team won 18 games and Rook was a key part of the team.
“The best team moment was the game to get to state in Huron,” said Rook. “It was the best because everyone was locked in and contributing. The crowd was amazing and made it an exciting atmosphere.
“My top individual moment was the 7th and 8th place game at state. Last game of the season went into overtime and I finished with 21 points and we got the win.”
Rook is a part of a fantastic 2018 class of talent at Central that should make them strong contenders the next two seasons. Rook and Cole Bergan are a key part of that group plus Cannon Hannigan has another year to go so Central has high expectations.
“As a team we need to come closer more like a family,” said Rook. “I think this coming season will go well and it will be interesting to see who steps up to fill the seniors roles.”
Rook already has an idea of what he wants to do in college too.
“As of now I’m interested in engineering, mainly mechanical engineering. If I had the option I’d like to play ball at the School of Mines (in South Dakota), not ruling out any colleges.”
