While this would typically be a time for a program to rebuild, the Pride comes back this year reloaded thanks in large part to a talented 2018 class that looks poised to come in and contribute this season.
After watching today’s action at San Diego State University team camp, senior wing Logan Matulis (Class of 2017) looks ready to have a huge season and be one of the state’s most exciting players to watch. In the first two games at camp today, it was a barrage of long range shots and thunderous dunks by Matulis that led Mountain Pointe, along with an intense team effort on defense.
With the help of Rashie Hodge (Class of 2017), the lone returning starter who will rejoin the team after football season, this team has great depth and athleticism and will look to execute coach Graham’s vision of being a run and gun team. Sophomore Point Guard Malik Salahuddin (Class of 2019) is expected to embrace his new role in running the team after playing limited minutes as a freshman.
Junior guard Terrance Hunter (Class of 2018) is a solid scorer on the perimeter, while fellow junior forward Meekness Payne (Class of 2018) adds a post presence and the versatility to slide to the wing. Due to the inexperience, coach Graham has his work cut out for him, but look for his crew to be clicking and making noise as the season progresses.
Mountain Pointe will round out their summer ball with Arizona Christian University Team Camp next week.
