G Anthony Harris | Paul VI
Anthony Harris is blossoming right before our eyes. He’s taken his aggression to the next level on both ends of the court. Owning an advanced skill level for his age, Harris has an explosive burst in the open court and gets to the rim at will. He creates space off the bounce, and is a confident shooter off the dribble or from the catch. Harris demonstrates good vision and passing ability with either hand. As he continues to grow into his body, he’s becoming more and more dynamic, especially when he attacks the basket.
G James Bishop | Mount St. Joseph
We saw Bishop shine this spring with Team Melo, and he continues to stand out with his high school team. A long-limbed, left-handed guard with good athleticism, James is an active defender on the perimeter with a good two-way feel for the game. He’s smooth off the bounce, where he can create, pull-up and shoot, or get into the paint and finish efficiently.
G Sherif Kenney | Clinton Christian
Sherif led his AAU Club, New World 16U, to the Adidas Gauntlet Regional Championship a few weeks back, and is heading into July with some positive momentum. He put together a strong performance vs. national level recruit Bryan Antoine in his head-to-head matchup, making a strong claim among the top point guard prospects on the east coast. At 6-foot-4, Kenney is a well-built lead guard with an incredible feel for the game. A capable lockdown defender owning athleticism suited for the next level, Sherif will likely become a serious target for high major programs.
G Jay Heath | Bishop O’Connell
6-foot-3 rising sophomore Jay Heath showed some signs for O’Connell during their run to the Alex Len bracket title. The athletic, high energy guard did well to get into the paint and seek contact. He basically lived at the foul line over the course of the weekend, proving to be tough to contain off the bounce. He remained engaged defensively, and rebounded well on both ends of the court. He demonstrated a consistently high motor over the course of the weekend.
PG Barly Kanu | Eleanor Roosevelt
One of the more under-the-radar prospects in the area, Barly Kanu is quickly making a name for himself this spring and summer. A spring standout with New World 15U, Kanu’s success has translated to the high school level with Eleanor Roosevelt. The lefty is a knock-down 3 point threat, but also attacks the rim and seeks contact. He’s a vocal presence with a great attitude, and plays with good energy on the defensive side of the ball. A sneaky athlete who rebounds well out of his area, Barly can finish above the rim in the open court.
PG Jason Gibson | Sidwell Friends
Jason hit 59 threes in 24 games with Sidwell Friends as a freshman. Now a rising sophomore, Gibson continues to make big time shots for his team down the stretch. Late in regulation during his team’s victory vs. DeMatha in the Greivis Vasquez bracket, Gibson hit two clutch threes which kept his team in it until they pulled away in the extra frame. Look for Jason to author more heroics over the course of his high school career.
C Ola Olamuyiwa | Capitol Christian
It’s hard to believe that Ola has only been playing organized basketball for a few months. The Nigera native, who is pictured above, first came to the US in February. Owning a lanky frame to go along with good instincts, the 6-foot-9 rising sophomore is a natural rim protector with an excellent motor. He’s a mobile big who runs the floor and crashes the boards with a purpose. While he’s still a bit raw offensively, Ola has shown signs on that end and still has a ton of room to grow. Look for him to continue his rapid development over the next few months.
