PG Xavier Johnson | Bishop O’Connell
Xavier was rock-solid at the lead guard spot during his team’s run to the Alex Len bracket championship. He’s a very crafty ball-handler with good vision and passing skills. He’s also a good rebounder out of his position. Xavier is a long guard who has an extra gear which he uses effectively both in half court and in transition. He can elevate and finish above the rim with either hand.
C Jermaine Harris | Clinton Christian
Jermaine was a major force in the paint area for Clinton Christian. The broad-shouldered, 6-foot-9 rising junior is an active rebounder with strong hands. He seeks the ball at its highest point and secures it, but also looks ahead for the quick outlet. Owning solid fundamentals on the low block, Harris can knock down 15+ footers with comfort. One of the most impressive attributes he possesses is his work rate. Harris is absolutely relentless.
SG Kiyon Boyd | HD Woodson
Kiyon mixed it up nicely during 31 point outing vs. Paul VI. He’s a nimble and crafty ball handler, and at 6’5” 210 has an explosive first step. He seeks and absorbs contact when finishing around the rim, and also creates space off the bounce for his shot. A solid rebounder out of his position, Boyd pushes it like a freight train in transition and attacks the rim with aggression.
PG Jared Bynum | Georgetown Prep
Jared put together a solid string of performances throughout the weekend, and helped his team dictate pace in each of their contests. He’s a good paint getter, probably because he’s such a lethal threat on the perimeter off the bounce or from the catch. The truth is, Bynum has a quick first step and a great feel for the game. He knows when to pick his spots and score, or set up his teammates for easy looks. He’s a hard-worker with a high motor which translates defensively. He did well to use his quickness and underrated strength to keep guys in front.
SF Mezie Offurum | Georgetown Prep
Mezie impressed in a number of areas. The long and broad 6-foot-6 forward finished well through contact. He hit 3 different mid-range jumpers, showcasing a soft touch even out beyond the arc. He reacted quickly, which made him a solid rebounder. His footwork on the low block was crisp, and where his fundamentals were also well noted.
PF Vince Lee | Paul VI
Vince continues to gain momentum as July draws nearer. He’s bulked up since his sophomore season, and is a strong low-post presence with a great motor. He’s a capable scorer on the low-block, with a soft touch out to 15 feet. He’s also an unselfish big man who can find open teammates. The future looks bright for PVI’s new man in the middle.
PF Quentin Millora-Brown | Bishop O’Connell
Quentin was a key cog during O’Connell’s run to the Alex Len bracket championship. He has developed a nice rapport with Nate Watson, and the two like to exchange looks from the high post to the low block. Quentin has improved his fitness and is moving much better these days. His touch is evident from mid-range, where he displays a confident release with good rotation on his shot. The 6’8” rising junior can finish around the rim with either hand, and is a solid rebounder who crashes the boards hard.
