SG Chyree Walker | Bullis
Chyree put together a strong all-around performance for Bullis in their win vs. Paul VI. He showcased a versatile offensive arsenal, including the ability to hit jumpers off the bounce and from the catch. He gave great effort defensively, was active and alert in the passing lanes. He was a strong rebounder out of his position. The 6-foot-5 rising senior exhibited a good feel for the game, and made some very good passes.
C Luka Garza | Maret
One of the first things that became evident about Luka was how much his body has transformed over the last six months. A strict fitness regimen has him looking rather lean these days, and his mobility has improved as a result. Garza is always a force on the glass, and this weekend was no different. He commanded the boards on both ends, and posed a real threat on the perimeter offensively. The 6-foot-10 center a nice touch and impeccable footwork which helped him score rather effortlessly on the low block. His motor was consistently high, and he was quite clearly the vocal leader of his team.
SF Jake Kuhn | St. Maria Goretti
Jake contributed in a variety of areas on both ends of the court. The lanky left-handed wing was crafty off the bounce. He was very vocal, and demonstrated a high work rate. His perimeter touch from long range is prolific, and he also aggressively attacked closeouts. The 6-foot-5 rising senior rebounded well out of his position.
SG Matt Lewis | Bishop O’Connell
Matt played with a ton of emotion, which helped propel his team to the championship in the Alex Len bracket. He ran the floor, filled the lanes correctly, and finished above the rim with athleticism and force on a number of occasions. He gets great elevation on his long range jump shot, which was prolific from the catch. The 6-foot-4 rising senior is a an unselfish player who can get into the paint and create for himself or others. He was very engaged defensively, and caused several deflections as a result of his aggression.
SG Jamie Pasha | Bishop Ireton
Jamie is very deliberate, and makes solid decisions on the offensive end. The 6-foot-5 rising senior is underrated both as an athlete and a passer. He has a high motor, and is a good rebounder out of his position. His jump shot looks the same each time, and he can absolutely fill it up from long range.
SF Myles Douglas | Paul VI
Myles scored 20 points in a win vs. HD Woodson. The 6-foot-7 small forward hit a couple of threes from the catch, and aggressively attacked the basket where he finished efficiently in traffic. He did a good job attacking the glass, and showed strong hands when securing the boards. He filled the lanes correctly in transition, and ran the floor hard.
SF Nigel Jackson | Mount St. Joseph
Nigel demonstrated good versatility on both ends for Mount St. Joe’s as they captured the Dez Wells bracket championship. The 6-foot-5 rising senior scored in the post, but also did a nice job stretching the floor from the catch. He’s a solid rebounder who can also defend on the perimeter.
