CG Daryl Mackey Jr. | BWSL Graves
One of the most productive freshman in the state over the course of the high school season, Daryl Mackey Jr. continues to produce during the grassroots campaign. A long, athletic guard who owns a strong frame, Mackey rebounds very well out of his position. His middle game is very efficient, especially off 1 and 2 dribbles. Mackey is growing and appears to only be scratching the surface of his potential.
PG Jaquan Johnson | Team Takeover Black
A knockdown 3 point threat for T.C. Williams, Jaquan Johnson has done more of the same this spring with Team Takeover Black 15U. The lanky, quick lead guard is active defensively. He gets in the passing lanes and effectively boxes out his man on the boards. Johnson is an underrated athlete who contests shots and finishes around the rim ambidextrously in traffic. He showed some signs during his freshman year at T.C. The future bodes well for the developing young guard.
PG Cameron Savage | Uncommon Bulls 16U
Cameron Savage is playing up in the 16U division with Uncommon Bulls this spring and summer. He’s a quick, crafty lead guard who can get into the lane and create. Savage plays with contagious intensity on both ends of the court. He gets after it on defense, and applies a ton of pressure on the ball. Offensively, he’s fearless and aggressive off the bounce. He isn’t afraid to go toe-to-toe with anyone. Savage displays admirable leadership intangibles to go along with an intriguing skill set at the lead guard spot.
PG Matias Prock | NOVA Cavaliers
Matias Prock is a big guard with a high basketball IQ. He can handle pressure off the dribble, and is able to see plays before they develop. Prock is a skilled passer with either hand. He can thread the needle or make the simple play. He demonstrates toughness, poise, and maturity beyond his years. As Prock continues to grow into his body and develop his skill set, he should be considered among the most reliable and consistent point guards in the class.
SG Jason Ford | Team Loaded Red 16U
Jason Ford is a sharpshooter who must be accounted for on the perimeter. He tirelessly works through screens to get open. Ford fills the lanes correctly in transition and has a quick release from the catch. He’s an effective on-ball perimeter defender who moves his feet and picks up full court. Ford plays with commendable passion and energy on both ends of the court. He has the ability to get hot in a hurry, and can easily hit 3 or more threes in a given contest.
