D2 Prospects
Here we take a look at some of the better D2 options at the point guard position.
Jalen Clanton (Riverside Brookfield)
High IQ point guard that understands how to run a team. Played off the ball a lot at RB next to Daniko Jackson, but shows a natural feel at the position.
CJ Coldon (Belleville Althoff)
D1 level football recruit so he might choose that route, but if he opted for basketball would be a high level D2 kid. Speed in the open floor, knocks down shots, quality decision maker.
Keondre Schumacher (Normal U-High)
Baby Steph is a knock down three point shooter that is best off the catch. Solid distributor, but his strength is definitely shooting the ball.
Jason Towers (St. Joseph’s)
Upside prospect that might be best going JUCO route to refine his game. Athletic and quick in the open floor. Has scoring ability.
D3/NAIA Prospects
These are some of our favorite D3/NAIA options at the lead guard spot.
Ramar Evans (Loyola)
Thick and physical guard that can overpower opponents. Quality feel for the game running the show and getting others involved. Plus pull up shooter.
Devin Whitelow (Washington)
Small, but he is the ultimate leader. Whitelow runs the show with a high basketball IQ and puts his teammates in situations to succeed. Can drill runners in the lane.
Joey Coffaro (Hersey)
Plus shooting lead guard that has deep range out to three. Solid distributor with crisp passes.
Grant Wolfe (Effingham)
Tough and hardnosed southern Illinois point guard that makes sound decisions with the ball and gets others involved. Good perimeter shooter.
Justin Shadowens (Marion)
More of a scoring point guard that is a consistent shooter from both mid-range and three.
Rico Sylvester (Belleville East)
Athletic guard that has shown improved ability to run a team in the half court. Flashes ability as a scorer.
Jack Nolan (Benet)
One of the best pure shooters in the state. More of an off guard, but size limits him to playing the point guard spot at the next level.
