Not a ton of depth at either position. Let’s start with the power forwards and their top prospect Christian Negron (Larkin). Negron is the top post in the state because of his never ending motor and athleticism around the hoop. He might be slightly undersized, but makes up for it with his length and bounce around the rim. Best in an up and down game and playing as a face up four man. After Negron a duo of different power forwards present ability at the mid-major level in Manny Patterson (Kenwood) and Justin Carpenter (Mt. Carmel). Patterson is a tough and rugged post that excels rebounding and defensively. Carpenter is a skilled four that can handle the ball, shoot it, and score on the block. Athletic combo forward’s Jameel Alausa (Chicago U-High) and Connor Niego (Lyons Township) bring size and versatility. TJ Clifford (Downers Grove South), Lenell Henry (Morgan Park), and Collin Stallworth (Rochester) should be on the low-major radar. Small school kids to monitor are Cameron Gross (OPRF), Brandon McCombs (Jacksonville), Taylor Bruninga (Illini Bluffs), and Brandon Lawani (Bolingbrook).
Cameron Krutwig (Jacobs) is the lead dog in the center pack. He is a big bodied 6’9” center that has skilled footwork, rebounds, and is an excellent passer. Quality mid-major target. He is followed by a similarly massive bodied post in Joey St. Pierre (Richmond Burton) who moves opponents on the interior and flashes skill on occasion. Addison Lubert (St. Viator) and Anthony Cameron (Hyde Park) are D2 kids to watch.
